Of course, a lot depends on what you like.
But I suggest - walk from the Plaza de Catedral to Plaza Vieja - and then across to Prado.
El Malecon.
If you want to see the whole city, go up the Jose Marti memorial in the Plaza de la Revolucion.
El Morro (old Spanish fortifications).
Take a ride across the bay on the ferry.
The art museums.
Sit in one of the bars in Habana Vieja where they have live music.
If you like jazz - La Zorra y el Cuervo.
For the top Cuban bands - Casa de la Musica.
A day trip to the country - Las Terrazas / La Moka. Or if you travel a bit further Viñales (world heritage site).
Railway enthsiaists - take a ride on the Hershey railway.
How's that to start ?

All these guys know what they're saying and there isn't much more to add unless you want to go to different parts of the island. You can always look into Santiago de Cuba (right on the Caribbean Sea, most southern part of the island and far from Havana) or Cayo Coco (the keys in Ciego de Ãvila, sooo beautiful there). They're beautiful parts of Cuba. But you now have so many great ideas. Just have a great time!
¡Buen viaje!

Varadero has a nice beach , about 180 km from Havana. You are only a few days in Havana so forget Varadero and if you want to go to the beach go to " Havana del Este playas" (Eastern Havana beaches 20 km from Central Havana.
In Havana is so much to see, in fact you will need weeks, so go to the most important places in Old Havana , the Castle, cathedral, Capitolio, Central park, Prado, malecon, museum of the revolution. Be sure to drink a mojito , take a ride in Cocotaxi (yellow 3-wheel cab). The list is endless for more info check out
this http://www.havana-guide.com and enjoy your stay.

hiya well I'm Cuban living in NY.
if your going to be in Havana.
First thing is make sure you do alot of walking, is good to see the country and make sure you take loads of pics.
Make sure you visit the following:
1. El hotel Nacional
2. Cine Yara
3. China Town also make sure you eat there is really good.
4. Visit Old Havana.
5. def. the show Tropicana.
As for Varadero, is very nice there, but if I were you only go for one day, is a bit boring after the second day.

Veradero is a tourist trap. There's a nice town on the outskirts though.
The important thing in Cuba, is to avoid the "above board" restaurants. There are just as many "black market" spots, and they are much, much cheaper and much, much better. Don't be afraid - ask your cab driver for some good spots.
