Wow that is so elementary. Tell your friends to grow up and leave you out of the middle of their problems

The sad part is I had a Friend that was 38 and she does the same thing. When she tried it on me (35) pretty much decided it was time to end this friendship. They are the type of person that always have to have things their way. It's kind of funny how you don't notice it at first but when you do it really starts to eat at you.
I guess what I'm trying to say is. You are a legal adult. Your friends should be their to advise you and help you. They are not their to dictate to you.

you be friends with whom you want. you're at the age where you know what you want and it seems like your 'being stuck in the middle' is not a big deal for adults. i have friends who other friends of mine don't like...can't stand. i just don't put them together.
sounds like the one who's refusing is just immature and needs some 'baby glove' treatment. don't cut anyone out you don't want to, but the one who would 'refuse' your friendship can't control sh*t. if you wind up being friends with that person they don't like, let them deal with it and choose whether or not they are going to keep in contact with you, but be cool. don't get down to their level. i'm sure when forced, the adamant friend who would refuse you for being friends with the other would come around. either way, don't kill yourself with this bullshit.

I"m really confused about the nature of "friendship" these days. My friends have the freedom to be with whomever, whenever they choose. I dont believe it reasonable to suggest who they can and can not be friends with. I do not want anyone telling me who to associate with. If they did, I would ask them why, listen to the answer, weigh it and make my own decision. If I chose to continue associating with the "other", I'd be wiling to take whatever consequences came with my choice. What kind of "friend" is this, really?

Obviously it's childish. What would I do? Tell this person that I'm sorry but no one dictates to me who I will be friends with. I hope they will understand. If they don't, there's not much I can do. Oh, and have a nice day.

if your friend is going to make you choose then they really arent your friend to begin with. and what you are explaning sounds a little childish to me.
