No....there is many types of friendship........and you don't have to have or give your number to prove it.......some friendships are just being there to hear and help with problems......someone who will listen and give their opinion....not force it on you just suggest.......I take friendship seriously.....It is about the only thing that I really do take serious......

Well if he already said he doesn't want you dating his friends then he's probably got his mind set on not giving you the guys number. Buut as a plan B you could always steal/go through his phone for it and/or just talk to the guy on your own the next time you see him.

It helps because having someone's phone number is a personal thing. So if you said I'm friends with Jane. Then someone asks you, Do you have Jane's Phone number???
So you say NO..that is a bit wierd that a friend wouldn't have given you their phone number.

I wouldn't call someone a friend who's phone number I didn't have, or at least some kind of contact information. How are you supposed to stay friends without keeping in contact?
Think about it.

Nope. I have plenty of friends whose phone numbers I don't know. All people get is my email, really. Besides, friendship is about trust between you and that other person, not about phone conversations. (Although, in some cases, they do help to build that trust.)

No, but you should if you're a close friend. There are two or three people that I'm friends with that I dont have numbers for. But I dont see them often, and we're not especially close, even though we get along better than others.

I'm friends with loads of people and I don't have their number. In fact all we say all the time is "must get your number off you sometime" and we just never get round to doing it. And I see these people everyday because I go to boarding school.

No. One of my best friends of all time only called me once and other times I called her at work, but generally we just hung out. I know people love to chat on the 'phone but I like seeing my friends.

You may not be as close as someone who has the phone number, but you would still be a friend.
Friendship is not black & white; there are many subtle shades.
