Most people go home because they can't afford to go anywhere else. You simply take a vacation from school for a week only to find a term paper is due upon your return.

Spring break in college isn't for most people like what you would see on MTV. Usually people only go because they go with their family and/or the trips are paid for by their family. Personally, I rarely go anywhere for spring break because I can't afford it. I may go on an alternative break for school, though. If not, I'll just be working and relaxing.

Don't fall into the stereotype that all students head to a beach to get drunk and party. That may be what you see on the news, but there are also lots of students who choose to do organized community service projects, go home, or just do something non-alcohol related instead. I have three groups of college students who are headed to San Diego, San Francisco, and Los Angeles to do community service projects mixed with some fun stuff too. They are awesome!
