Ok, so i just had my 2nd baby 15 weeks ago and i am part breast feeding (3 b.feeds a day with 2 formula). I have had sex but have used condoms and took a test about 4 weeks ago coz i hadent had my period. that was negative. anyway, i had the implant put in my arm about 3 weeks ago and continued having sex with condoms (as recommended by doc) and i thought i started my period today as i was bleeding but now it just very light and pink. i know breast feeding and implant mess up periods but is this normal? has anyone else experienced this? do you think i should take another test to be safe? Serious answers please. Thanks!

The implant is a piece of bendy plastic about 2 inches long and its inserted into inside of upper arm to protect against getting preg. lasts for 3 years and after having it taken out fertility returns to normal after 48 hours. apparently more effective then pill.

there is definatly no harm in taking another test just to rule it out. I had the implant in about 10 weeks after my first baby was born and all i did was have scanty bleeding all the time. I was constantly thinking i was getting a period but it was just light bleeding all the time. In the end I got it out. I think the implant can really screw your hormones around for the first few months until you adjust to it and the breastfeeding hormones are probably not helping. The chances that you are pregnant are very very low considering the fact that your baby is young, you are partially breastfeeding and you have used 2 different types of contraception. That all said its not impossible - go do a test and good luck

When i breast fed my son i didn't have a proper period for the first 6 months until i stopped the breast completely. I think i would just be your body adjusting to the implantation and also with feeding your baby. but if you are concerned take a test to be safe but i think its safe to say your probably not pregnant. hope all goes well.

I really dont think you could be pregnant. Your only 3 months from having had a baby, and you spent on average half that time bleeding after birth.

So honestly, even if you didnt have the pill, and even if you were breastfeeding in part or in whole, your periods wouldnt be right yet anyway.

I wouldnt stress over it in the least.

First take the test to ease your mind. It is normal to have irregular periods if your breast feeding I know .I went through the same thing.

i don't know much about implantations, and i'm currently pregnant with my first, so i don't know the afterfacts, but anything is possible. take another test to be safe. if you have additional concerns, call your doctor.

good luck

I think you have protected yourself well. It can take a few months to get your period back. Enjoy the time without it!
