A doctor MIGHT help, but it's 99.999% a placibo effect.
Here is why.

You go to the doctor, and are among "professionals", and they tell you to convey what is wrong. This is already a placibo effect. You are talking about it, the nice, happy compassionate professionals are there to listen, and you think that everything will be good soon. This releives some stress, makes you feel comforted, etc.
Then, you are told a lot of things, asked a lot of things, given a soft toy to squeeze, and some cute pills to swallow, and voila, more placibos.
You're told to eat these pills each day and monitor your results.
More placibo effects.
after 8 to 12 weeks of one placibo every few hours and reassurances from the happy people in white coats, and notes put into your "file", you miraculously don't have a nervous breakdown after all. You thank the happy professionals for "preventing" a breakdown and you pay them 8 or 9000 dollars for their "help" (or your insurance pays it). One way or another, these "nice " people just want your money.
You wouldn't have had a breakdown anyways, and if you would have had one, the placebos would not have prevented it, nor made it any better.
It's all quackery.
But no one denies that placebo effect can make you feel a bit better.
So maybe it's 9000 dollars well spent. Who knows.

If you are truly that close.. as much as I am an advocate of doing things without medication (and believe me.. I think it should be the absolute last resort) I am going to recommend going to your Doctor and telling him how you feel.. so he can get you on some welbutrin or something... then.. once a crisis is averted... you need to figure out what got you to this point and rearrange your life and priorities accordingly to fix the problem... counseling may be in order to do this depending on how honest you are with yourself.

Talk to a doctor and figure out what options you have. They may prescribe drugs or suggest you begin counseling or both.
You can't cope anymore on your own. Whatever is bothering you is more than you can bear and so you break.
Maybe, you can let some things go to lighten your burden. The help you get in figuring this out could save your sanity.
I wish you well.
C. :)!!

Identify what the issues are.
Prioritise (you can't do everything)
Immediately do some pampering - massage, holiday, sleep in,
long relaxing bath. eat well, walking, deep breathing, mediation.
Last resort - medication.
Tell the people around you & get support
Order yourself to reduce your work load. (leave the housework or cooking or whatever can wait)
Remove yourself from abusive or unloving, unsupportive people.

In other words take loving care of you.

understand the problem, simplify your life the most you can, realize what's important to you and your family, talk with those connected to the problem. Is it stress that has you down? The best thing you can do is be proactive about working towards the solution.

If it is imminent, go for a walk or run. Do any kind of exercise. I highly recommend seeing a Doctor. Take a break from your current situation if you can.
