World Of Warcraft is way better. Better graphics, quests, etc. Pretty much everything is better. The current level cap is 70 (with The Burning Crusade expansion) and it should take you a reasonable amount of time to get there. If you're a casual player and dont sit at your computer screen for hours everyday playing. Another thing is Blizzard is constantly working to expand and improve the game so new content is added all the time. There is also tons of stuff to learn about in WoW because theres so much of it. The new expansion Wrath Of The Lich King is supposed to be released at the end of 2008 so by the time you get to level 70 and have a lot of knowledge and experience about the game, you'll be ready to continue to level 80 with no problems at all. I do however suggest you do a little research on what faction/race/class you want to be as each have strong and weak points that you may or may not like for an individual faction/race/class. You can do this research at www.worldofwarcraft.com. The forums are a great place to look as well as the "Game Guide" section of the site's home page. Hope this helps. Good Luck with your decision!

runescape is horrible. there's so many ways to hack it and so many people already have, it's not fun anymore. people in WoW are way more helpful and generous than in Runescape. WoW also has incredibly great immersion and graphics. once you cap off (get to the highest level, which is 70 but Blizzard is going to change to 80 in the next expansion), there's a load of new things you can do, such as:flying on a flying mount, work for great armor through reputation with factions, and PvP in a new battleground (a PvP based battle between the two main warring factions of WoW, The Alliance and The Horde) called Eye of The Storm, and a whole bunch more. I've yet to cap off, though. I'm a Level 33 Draenei Mage and I'm having a great time. Play Alliance on Misha Realm if you end up playing. The $15 is nothing compared to how much fun you'll have.

World Of Warcraft: a popular mmorpg that will became very time consuming if you choose to start playing it so that might kick that little cruddy 3-d game called runescape to the side, which is a good thing, since the dynamics of runescape are just old and the game play is terrible and not to mention from experience from watching friends, the game has become plagued with hackers and scammers. W.o.w can have its share of wierdos as well but i mean you'll find that in any game, however you can find a plethora of nice folks that you will become friendly with while communicating over Ventrilo with and going on the endless numbers of quests and adventures w.o.w offer, if that doesnt float your boat theres a player versus player aspect between the games two warring factions each with its own4 unique races. and oh i forgot to mention theres about 9 classes to choose from when you create your character. the level cap currently falls off at 70, which will take a considerable amount of time to get to, inorder to keep you busy, but you'll be having fun so you'll get there sooner than you think, also blizzard graciously offers free updates that come around pretty darn consistently so you know that your 15$ per month isnt going into the pocket of a corperation that doesnt care about its players, they do a good job in providing tech support, and a fun game for many to enjoy. So in the words of William Shattner -

"Get World of Warcraft, Dawg you can be whoever you want!"

"Im Aza and im a Paladin"

"Whats Your Game?"

World of Warcraft; if you play free for Runescape and get to say level 70, you'll figure out what a waste of time it was. Runescape is only fun as a member.

World of Warcraft is, by far, much better and much more expansive. More options and better graphics, better updates (which are free), and a lot more to do.

As for the fact that it has a subscription fee, it's only $15 a month - the cost of going to the movies once and buying a small popcorn. Or the cost of a new CD. What's going to bring you more enjoyment for the entire month?

I played RuneScape for quite a while and I bummed off it but I've heard that WoW is pretty immense. Although the whole money thing is a bit iffy for WoW?

It's your choice really.

I must admit with more than a little shame that I sat idly by while my son wasted 2 years of his life between the two games. His social life was on hold the entire time and when he himself finally admitted that he had in fact lost valuable time that he could never recoup he had no click or group of people to call his friends except for a flock of nameless, faceless, feelingless entities that only existed when he was logged on. That being said I will answer your question by sayng that he did say that WOW was by far the better game.
