If you want an intriguing story of an American Indian consider the circumstances of how Geronimo, the Apache leader, died.

He had left Lawton, Oklahoma, on horseback to return to Fort Sill Reservation after loading up on craft materials for bows and arrows to sell. He also loaded up on rotgut whiskey, and mid-way from Lawton to Fort Sill he fell drunk from his horse.

He lain on the prairie for about two or three days until soldiers discovered him. Getting him to the reservation doctor was a mite late as he was suffering from exposure to the elements, pneumonia, and whatever else that plagued his body besides a hangover.

He died on 17 February 1909 and was buried in a special plot on the back of Fort Sill.

As a boy he had a vision that he would never die from bullets. Although shot at least 80 times in the chest area, he lived to tell about it. He was in his eighties and the oldest living known POW on the reservation. He left behind several children with his third wife.

May I suggest you "google" this, or put it into Wikipedia and see what you get... and may I further suggest that you specify whether you mean Native Americans or Indians from any particular part of India?

Oh, and if you are looking for Native American stories, my strong suggestion is that you get the book "The Toughest Indian in the World" by Sherman Alexie... He's a favorite of mine, and these short stories are very good.

There are more; I see that you'd have to simply put Native American in the Wiki search box to get anywhere. But I think there may be something there; at least children's stories!

I did not look into India, as you may have an area in mind... and I don't know it. Luck on your project--
