Hello all,
I am French and I’m writing my CV in English. The differences between the continental Europe and the UK/USA make it a bit complicated to find the exact terms. I would thus like to obtain more details concerning the terms graduate, post-graduate and undergraduate student in the Anglophone world…
When you successfully finish your high school education, you say you are a “high school graduate”, right?
But then you go to college and you’re an under-graduate student??? I’ve actually finished my Bachelors Degree. I am currently a MBA student, and I’m applying to an internship. Should I say I’m a “MBA graduate or post-graduate student” ?
Well, I don’t know if I’ve made it clear, anyway anything you may say on this subject will be much appreciated (don’t worry if you write a long answer!!).
Thanks a lot in advance.

Yes, once you've completed high school, you are a high school grad. :) Undergraduates have completed and/or are working on an Associate's or a Bachelor's degree. Someone who is working on a Master's degree or a Doctorate (PhD) is considered a graduate student. Those who are not enrolled in a degree program, but are taking courses beyond their degree are post-graduate students. If you are currently enrolled in an MBA program, you would refer to yourself as an MBA graduate student.

Hope this helps!

You are an Under-graduate up to completion of your Bachelors degree. If you continue to go to school, in your case, for an MBA - you are a Graduate student, pursuing a Masters.

If you have obtained a bachelors and going for a masters I would say that you are a graduate student, becuase you are in graduate school. Make sense? Im not sure if thats your question or not.

A graduate student has gotten their bachelors and is going beyond a 4-year college education.

I think you are an MBA student or a graduate student. Or you are "a student in an MBA program." Or you "expect to receive your MBA degree in June 2008." Or you are "in an MBA program and expect to graduate in June 2008."

The best one is the "expect to receive your MBA degree in June 2008" one.....
