In Texas those incarcerated can get married through Texas' proxy marriage laws.
How can I help her?
Any advice or thoughts?

That is insane. You are not alone. There have got to be some arguments that will sway her. Get some help from a psychiatrist or a clergyman and encourage her family to speak their mind about this. If after that, she goes through with it, at least you know that you tried.

I suggest you tell her that she would be in a dishonest relationship, because he would not have the option to run away.
No, don't really say that, but I think there might be some truth to that. Does she really think so lowly of herself that she has to marry a guy she only gets to visit in jail now and then? Does she think she has to suffer that way?
Maybe she thinks it'll make it easier to keep this guy. It's almost like it lets her stay not fully committed. Is she afraid of a real commitment, where she'd actually have to deal with the person, good, bad, and ugly?
And about the being a killer part, you might want to educate her on wife beaters. She probably has no clue about domestic violence and control freak husbands. Somebody who can kill someone must have some control issues.

He is marrying her because The parole board is more like lkely to give early parole to a married man than an unmarried man. He will make her write letters to the parole board and spend her mponey on lawyers until he is released. Then When he is free Hw is going to do Everything Newly freed men Do, Chase women, GAmble, Do drugs, Maybe even commit murder again.

ask yourself and HER these questions....How long have you nown this guy? Do you (sister) know he's done this? How long has he been out of prison? How old is the GUY?!! you sister is only 18 make sure she knows what she's getting into. PRAY for her and her safety if the marrige goes through or not. and be there for her and let ther know that! don't shun her if she does get married and love her regardless. best wishes!

pretty outrageous in my opinion.. but she's an adult and it's her life... what can you do really? As family you can sit her down.. ask her why she's doing this.. and express your reasons you believe it to be a mistake.... if she still chooses to do this then you have to let her live her life and learn the hard way... part of growing up is making mistakes... I HOPE she listens to you and I HOPE things work out for the best for you... but again.. it's her life.........
