there is no one truth; keep looking for it and it'll bring nothing

It seems to me you came to us. :)

And your final statement is a great example of why thinking objectively is important, hence a point of philosophy.

Have a fabulous day!

The point is to find a truth for which I can live my life, as Kierkegaard said. I can simply be a cow, as someone else said and follow the herd aimlessly, or I can seek to make a difference. Good philosophy seeks to make a difference now, not to find truth that will be good for all times and places. Each individual person must be a philosopher because our life is a series of choices and we must choose or not choose on the basis of some idea whether its implications are thought about or not.

Actually, the real point of philosophy is to arrive to your own conclusion. We just take different means. In studying what others think or have thought, we apply their philosophies to our own life. After a while, we decide if we like their ideas or not, and become our own philosophers.
The word philosophy comes from the Greek words "philo", meaning friend, and "sophia", which means wisdom. Wisdom is only gained through experience. Philosophy values this notion. By looking to others, we end up looking deeper into ourselves in order to determine our own purpose. Chances are, your "purpose", according to you, will always change. This is why it's important to discuss it with others, no matter how "fixed" your position is- you'll either end up growing stronger to your purpose, or changing it, due to what you learned. See? Experience.
In the end, you're right. It all goes in a circle. But that's the point. It's up to YOU to decide where the corner is.

The point of philosophy is to have an educated discussion on some of the biggest mysteries God has given us in this world. And when you have heard all the sides, you can make your own opinion. Without philosophy, the world would be filled with ignorant people who have no idea why they think the way they do.

Nah - philosophy is like hacking a trail in the jungle of ignorance. Sure we may not know it all but we begin to know the difference between what we know and what we don't know - and what can or can't be known. That's about a thousand times more awareness than most people walk around with and it's intellectually purifying - satisfying - and as a side effect it makes you credible.

If you search hard enough, you will find answers for yourself. The idea is to know that the answers are for you only and not for everyone else. I have tried to find the objective truth about many different things over the course of my life, and I would like to think that I was quite successful, for me.

Philosophy is not a precise one question one answer subject. Philosophy is behind plenty of processes. Governments are built on philosophy, Ideals of the founders, of rebels, and of the people in government today. philosophy is not about finding what is but finding what logically might be by the guidelines of the information given to us. All answers have questions but not all questions have answers.

There will always be strings of questions attached to just one query.

You are a mystery.

I am a mystery.

The whole world is a mystery.

Today is the period of the postmodern!
