okay......assuming they exist....... future earth is a good possibility, also another dimension would be possible. To be from another planet they would have to know how to bend space and time to travel quickly enough to make it worth while, unless they are the last of their kind and just looking for a new home......
so actually my answer is both!

Hm...well, they could be from another planet. Or they could have come from their home planet in the future, and used time machines to come to this time period.
