You were of the view that they were not in contact and she made it clear to you that they are not in contact in general.
How would you read her actions? Are they having an affair?

Ex-husband is an ex husband period. There should be no contact whatsoever UNLESS kids are involved? Anyways, she lied to you about not being in contact with him so why wouldn't she lie again to you. Before you start pointing the finger at her, confront her first and talk it out. Usually you can read her body language and how she responds back on if she is telling the truth or lying.

No one is able to tell you whether she is having an affair or not. But you should confront her about it, and ask her what is what. If she avoids the situation, or starts acting suspicious then yes, it could be possible. But you need to have that talk first before jumping to conclusions.

You won't know until you ask. Don't make assumptions and judgements off of half-information. YOu have enough to politely ask her now what is going on. Don't be offensive with her, but politely ask to get the answers, and open up some dialogue.

If she has told you that she is not in contact with her ex and she is, then she is lying to you. That is a bad sign. It doesn't necessarily mean that she is cheating, but it does mean that she is lying. Confront her about it. She must either have a good explanation, or she is a cheater.

If you are feeling that your relationship is in trouble & have the need to check your wifes text messages then I would say you need to sit down & talk to her. Tell her what you did, & then tell her why you did it, & ask her if they are seeing each other. But you need to talk to her, let her know if this is bothering you.

Before jumping to conclusions, you should just ask her straight up what its about, and see how she responds. Maybe he just contacted her out of the blue and its completely innocent.

Do they have kids together? If they do, it's pretty normal. Does not sound intimate, just matter of fact. My ex text me about our schedules to avoid talking to me. If they don't have kids...then just ask her what she is talking to him about.
