I got mine when I was 10 and had NO CLUE what was going on with me. I think my mom was expecting me to be a bit older before having the "talk" with me. That day I went to the bathroom (thank god I was home) and there it was in my undies. I freaked and called for my mom... She came in and smiled and said, "jump in the shower and I'll be right back", I was like, "what the?"... She came back in with pads and we sat in the bathroom for a while talking about what was going on. It was a good bonding moment.

Just talk to her. Everything will be alright!

Your mom shouldn't be upset about this. Everything is okay - trust me! You're probably just freaking out when you go to the bathroom, but I doubt there's anything physically wrong. So, don't worry!

No joke, but when I told my mom that I had my first period, she took me out to dinner. We had a nice "girl time" together. It's nothing to stress over!

Don't worry, its perfectly normal to have your period. Your mom will help you choose either pads or tampons (I'd go with pads first), and any other fears and queations you have. The pain is most likely where you are cramping, thats normal too. Don't be afraid to tell your mom, it just means you are growing up!

it's not a big deal even though it feels like it right now. Your mom has been there too, she's gotten hers and had to tell her mom. You just go up to her and ask her if you can talk when no one is around adn you let her know.

after all someone has to buy you pads ;-)

Well, your mom is a woman so she has one too. It's not a big deal. I don't know why you're afraid to tell your mom. She can help you by buying you medicine that will help with your cramping. It's not like you've contracted a disease or anything, you're jus tgoing through a normal stage in development.

Just relax and tell her because your only gonna be hurting more the more you wait to tell your mom. It's better being up front with her and to try to stop the pain. Best wishes.

She's a girl, too. It's okay. Just say, "Mom, I started my period today." She'll take it from there. You are not alone.

Just sit down and tell her "mom I got my period" that's all you have to say. Take a deep breath and relax.
