I have heard that imagery is a very powerful tool. Is there any way I can use my thinking to suddenly change the circumstances of my life? For example, could I just imagine myself as being in perfect health & then never have to eat, exercise, bathe or brush my teeth again?
Could I just assume I know everything & then somehow tap into the collective knowledge of the universe & have that knowledge in my mind?
Can I make myself grow?
Can I be invisible?
Can I fly?
Can I do all of this stuff effortlessly just by thinking? I don't want to put in lots of effort. I feel like maybe the only reason I have not been able to achieve any of these things is because in the back of my mind I am thinking that they are impossible, & that self defeating attitude is preventing me from being successful. Like maybe I can jump as high into the air as I want, or teleport, or suddenly learn all skills, but my incredulity at the possibility of things is holding me back. Or maybe I have not practiced enough.

The mind is very powerful, but just how powerful is it? I get uneasy thinking that maybe I am not using it to it's full potential and I wonder what the limits really are. Maybe these things sound nuts simply because no one else (that I know of) has done them before. Maybe the things I am mentioning will be commonplace in the future.

the way you think has a very powerful impact on your life. for example:

"For example, could I just imagine myself as being in perfect health & then never have to eat, exercise, bathe or brush my teeth again?"

If you think you can be in perfect health and never bathe, etc, you will ... stink to high heaven and everyone will think you're crazy. that's is why magical thinking is very dangerous and harmful, and why religions that preach it are as evil as religions that preach jihad.

How you think has lots of power over your decisions. You can make decisions based on reality and have them work -- or you can make them based on fantasy.
(granted no one is able to precieve all of reality and thus our *perceptions* of reality can be said to be equally valid, does not mean that there is no reality)

But i think you already know the answer to your own question or you won't have asked it in quite this manner.

people who really practice this call it "positive thinking", they call anyone who disagrees with them "negative", and they stop at "imagine perfect health" part of your question and they never consider the "bathe" part of your question. Some of them don't go to the doctor if they have cancer -- on the grounds that docotors may be "negative" -- and then they die.

I was dumb enough to believe this garbage for six years. I made a lot of wrong choices in my life, mostly sticking with an abusive boyfriend. I threw out "negative" thoughts in my head about how he picked me up and threw me onto the ground, and focused on "postive" thoughts abouth how True Love is the meaning of life and how we would work out all of our problems.

And then i grew up. but now i HATE positive people with a passion.

Positive thought can improve your life and ability.. to an extent.. things like if you imagine yourself being able to stretch further... you will be able to... if you imagine yourself making more freethrows.. your % will improve... but there are things you can't do.. you can't become truly invisible... but with imagination you may be able to find a way AROUND that... you can't fly.. but with imagination you may be able to find a way AROUND that.. things like that... just for example (with the flight).. people said for years that "If God wanted us to fly he would have given us wings".. well people kept imagining.. and now we have plains and hang gliders...

so.. all things are possible... if you don't put limitations on how you get there... but you aren't going to do it just by "willing" it to happen. Man's gift in this world.. what sets us apart.. isn't that we can will our mind to do great things.. it's the we can will our mind to find ways around problems... our Technology is our gift... and through THAT all things are possible.

I certainly think that it is a powerful tool. But no you still have to eat you still have to Shower and who knows the total power of it. Nothing is Impossible you make your own limits. This guy wrote we are not afraid of failing we are afraid of succeeding. I do believe this to be true

It's impossibal to know the extent of the power the mind has, I think we are millions of years away from anything like what you are suggesting.
