1st tri: weeks 1-12
2nd tri: weeks 13-26
3rd tri: weeks 27-40

There are three but how they are divided is different depending on what book you read and what doctor you talk to. Generally, the 40 weeks of pregnancy are divided this way:

Weeks 1-12 are the First Trimester
Weeks 13-26 are the Second Trimester and
Weeks 27-40 are the Third Trimester

Trimester 1 begins at the day of last period and runs to 12 weeks.

Trimester 2 begins at 13 weeks and goes to 25 weeks

Third and final Trimester begins at 26 weeks and goes until 40 weeks or until you deliver.

Each trimester consists of 3 - 4 week periods and usually begin on the day of the week that was the same as your last period.
First trimester is when most women have the major symptopms.
Second is the "safe" or "happy" months. Most symptoms have gone and you are still not too big to be uncomfortable. Most women find a boost to their labido at about this time.
Third is when you get big, nervous about deliver, and "nesting" which is making things ready for the baby.
