The bill is high from my phone automatically downloading my email. I did not go over on any other usage charges. I did not know I was getting charged for this feature

I'd be going through your contract with a fine tooth comb. Also you may need to call consumer affairs.
Please do not go bankrupt as suggested above, you need to work this out whilst it is a massive bill it isn't big enough amount of money to go bankrupt over either

Did you order e-mail for yo cell phone .. and if so did you sign the initals spot that you asked to have this feature on your cell phone ... go over the contract with a magna-glass on both sides and the get those V-zonies to agree to accept about 8 or 10 cents on the dollar and QUIT bothering you .... this is so far out it is almost not even real ... you either accepted the auto-download for e-mail or you got bundled and that is the big question and the 14K that you probably do not owe ... hang up the phone and throw away the battery and just enjoy the free e-mail on this here big "Y" (yahoo to you) ===========

I think a good lawyer would be worth the fee! Besides consultation, he/she can write the company on your behalf and do negotiations for you, lessen the amount, waive it, or put you on a payment plan.
You may want to get a copy of your contract and take it to your lawyer. There may be a way out of it via their own contract. They say ignorance is no excuse, but if you can find other people who have fallen into this scenario, you can merge your funds together and get a class-action lawsuite started.
Best to you - may Verizon have a little compassion your way, and get this thing settled fairly!

OK, let me ask you something. Yes you did know they charged, because in order to GET email, you would have had to order a data plan. Then you would have had to configure the email.
My only question is why would there be so much email. If you had a data plan, wouldn't that have covered it? Emails are only like 20 kb each.
So yeah, you knew. That type of bill would be like 100,000 or more emails a day.

Holy crap! I had that problem once, but I was freaking out over a $200 bill! What exactly happened that caused this and did you even know you were getting email to your phone?

$14,000 worth? Keep speaking to someone in a higher position. The avg CSR can not handle this.
They should never have let the bill get so high & it's absolutely ridiculous for them to assume you are at fault.

Take your contract to an attorney to be reviewed and see if there's anything you can do - doubtful though. It's David vs. Goliath.
Will they at least let you make payments? You can't get blood from a turnip afterall. . .and they know that.
