I took batt. out then put it back in and now it will not start.

Most likely your ignition coil is bad. But I would take the time to get a code reading before you start throwing parts at the car.

Pull the coil wire and check for spark at the coil wire. If you have a nice fat spark at the coil wire, but not at the plug wires, you probably have a bad (cracked or wet) cap or rotor. Also check spark at cap. This would indicate that problem could be in plug wires.

Make sure all coil and plug wires are firmly inserted as they may have been partly pulled out during battery change.

Mazda used mitsubishi electronics exclusively for many years. They were excellent. In 22 years of working on Mazdas, I only replaced one bad coil, and that was because one of the posts was broken.

Spark plug wires
Distributor cap & rotor

These are cheap items. Try these first before spending more money.

is pos to pos and neg to neg on batt. when was tha last time you had a tuen up? or changed the batt.

kk it coyuld be yor cap and rotor sparjk plug wires or spak plugs

but it is most probably your igniton coil
