I just found a white feather on my mittens when I was about to go home from work. They say its an angel or a spirit watching over you. I posted the same question as well. :-)

That a bird was there. Unless that loved one had some kind of connection with with birds/feathers, then it could be a sign of some sort. Hmmm...
