It's definitely a big problem, and getting more and more serious. Our planet can only sustain so many people.
It's hard to know what to do about it, though. Programs enforcing one child have had horrible consequences for babies in China (although, I guess, effective for reducing population if you're going to be coldhearted about it.)
I don't think the solution is to kill anyone off (and I'm sure not volunteering to reduce the population by one by killing myself) but programs to reduce the number of babies being born, especially in developing nations with exploding populations.

Looking at some of the other posts raises more questions. Should priority be given to mankind at the expense of all other species? If so, why?
So there are large, unpopulated spaces. I think these are mostly deserts. Whether hot or cold, are they not inhospitable to man?
Resources? Perhaps mismanaged, but with so much corruption, especially in 3rd World countries, how do you reallocate fairly?
Lack of population control in 3rd World countries? It is difficult to legislate against people's religious and cultural beliefs. Who would pay for contraception needed, and the education involved in convincing the needy to use it? How would you get it to remote areas, where it is needed most?
As far as I can see, Mother Nature, being a great leveller, will come up with some massive global disasters and epidemics. But then we get the sympathisers who want to wave the magic wand, and sort all the problems with other people's money. I really don't know how much effort we should use to try and hold back nature.

No, and they won't increase. Nature is a great leveller and will keep the population at the right level. Some years ago National Geographic came out with this and showed a graph to support the idea. The strange thing was that if the graph was plotted back until there were only two people it was only 4500 years ago, the time of the Biblical flood. Plot it forward from two people and we arrive at just about were we are now. As for suggesting we regulate births, this is just what the UN aka New World Order wants. This was implemented in China and India, now look at the mess they are in with a surplus of one sex and none of the other. Let Nature take care of it, it has for many years before.

During a scientific summit before the millennium. The world's top scientists stated that single greatest immediate problem the world has is its population.
Resources are not unlimited and the world's pop. is perfect for the transmission of a super virus that could potentially kill 25% of the pop.

yeah, thats the thing, how are you going to stop it? the US's birth rate is pretty flat. most of our population growth is from immigration. the population boom is in africa, china, and india and china is the only country that is really trying to control it, and their policy is skewing the male:female ratio quite a bit which is going to lead to problems in the future.
its probably not a big problem yet, but it will be in the future. especially if there is ever a famine of a major food crop like wheat or corn.

With living human kind?
No problems.
With the defective, malfunction humanoids?
That.
We do have problems with them.
Without being aware they were surviving and running on batteries with faulty communication and sexual syetem.
Living in misery.
Luke 9.55-56
Getting themselves kick on the butts as casualty of the dead Mummy with cheap-skate glory of idol worshiping the dead Mummy of failures and horrors of the past from the graveyards of different ghostly ancestor's culture and custom in kicking the butts of God.
Were climbing up the coconut trees and still look green without being aware of the mess of their own creation in own backyards.
Getting kick by the three monkeys with see no evil, hear no evil and say no evil.
Who were still primitive in their monkey suits in making a mess out there without being aware of it.
Ever wonder what will happen when they all runs out of batteries with shorten life-cycle in kicking the butts of God?

So are we over populated in time?
Ever wonder what will happen to the cheap-skate glory of fantasy toyland?

No, the root cause of the many of our problems is inefficient allocation of resources. For example, if we stopped wasting megatonnes of grain every year feeding livestock there would be more than enough food for everyone on Earth to eat well, albeit we'd all have to be vegetarian.

Anybody who believes this should to the only logical action withing their power consistent with that belief and decrease the population by 1.
Otherwise, it strikes me as hypocrisy to say, "There are too many people, but that doesn't include me!"
