Of course, great pitching always beats great hitting.

I think a better question would be should the MLB put a salary cap on baseball next season. A team that spends 150 million on their salary (not including the 50 million shelled out to negotiate with matsusaka) wins the world series then picks up the best pitcher in baseball for whatever hundreds of million their going to pay him after they extend his contract. Most teams cant afford to spend even half what the sox and yanks can and the icing on the cake is once they walk home with the trophy they just get to increase payroll and pick up the best possible free agents/ tradeable players for the next season with an even higher payroll. The good teams are going to just keep getting better while the crumy ones just stay the same. The farm system soon wont mean anything because teams can just buy all their players, why grow players when you have all the money and no limit on spending it

I think you are getting ahead of yourself.

Most likely, the only way Boston lands Santana is if they have such a huge stroke while thinking about him being on the Yankees that they break down and trade Ellsbury. Without him I dont see it happening.

For the record, I'm a Twins fan not a Yankees fan. But they want a CF'er if they trade Santana.

No. You never know who or what team may be the surprise team this year. You also never know about injuries and failed expectations. Some players after winning the World Series do not seem as hungry. In short, you always play the games. Anything can happen.

If we have learned anything this last season, it is that anything can happen. I mean heck the Colorado Rockies went to the World Series. I cannot be the only one that thought they would never see that day. Besides, if the Yankees could stay healthieish they are probably the better team anyway.

Nah, let's play it out anyway.
1988 Oakland, 1990 Oakland, 1985 Cardinals, 2006 Tigers. Lots of people looked like they should have been handed the trophy.

Oh, and unless you are putting Beckett ahead of Santana to go R, L, R, it would be

Santana

Beckett

Matsuzaka
Schilling
whomever

nope... the baseball season is very long and any one can have a shot at the World Series at the end. Though, the Red Socks have a great shot at the Championship again.

no, ramirez and lowell are getting up in years, as is varitek, your pen still isnt perfect, and youll have to look out for a vastly improved angels team as well as the tigers and indians in the playoffs, possibly the mariners too and i think the jays will give boston a good run in the east
