The UK ambassador suggests that the convicted teacher my have been guilty of insensitivity to the local customs when she allowed the class to name the "Teddy bear" Muhammad. It is my contention that she only guilty of showing her sensitivity to that culture. A Teddy bear is not an animal at all but rather a FRIEND. It is your friend, it is your confidant. It is someone who listens to everything you say and does not judge you. It misses you when you are gone and is glad when you return.
It is the actions like those of this court that fuel the hatred of Islam and its judges.
Just two days ago, I heard a man call to his pet dog, Muhammad, it was a surprise in this part of the world, Kansas. I did not realize that it was intended to be an insult. I not would be suprised, IF, in this nation of pork eating people, that someone or ten someones named all of the swine on their ranch "Muhammad."
I would name my dog if I had one "Muhammad", not in honor of the prophet, but rather for you.

This is why we are blessed to live in a country where we can call our teddy bears, pets, children, car, horse or donkey ANYTHING we darn well want to without being persecuted by a bunch of undereducated religious zealots. We may get called a few names, but that goes with the little comfort we call freedom(something that Sudanese court will never understand).

Just a little point, it's wasn't a sharia court, and hasn't Labour tried to pass a similar law against "religious hatred" which will have similar results. Maybe you will be in front of the Beak, with your dog or pet pig!

I say if the children voted for it, and they were the actual Muslims, then shouldn't they be punished and not the teacher?

i suspect sudan has internal political reasons for having handed down this criminal decision.

i also suspect that before too long they will realise that there are external political reasons why they should have shown more sense.
