what is a resonable amount to charge per document in process serving?

It varies WILDLY.

In many places the sheriff will serve papers for as little as $20. If the person to be served is actively avoiding service, and you have to hire a private server who has a hard time finding the person, it can cost hundreds.

In my town all the private process servers charge the same as the Sheriff. Find out what they charge.
