I am currently living with my aunt's family, my aunt being a fully qualified homeopath, and my aunt has decided to treat me. This seemed like an ok idea until a few days ago when she announced that I had been the subject of debate among her and several other homeopaths (whom I have never met) and that given my symptoms they have decided on the right remedy for me. Again this did not cause any problems but when I asked what the remedy was and what my symptoms are she refused to tell me, to which I replied that I would not take anything unless I knew what was in it and why I was taking it (considering I'm vegan this seems reasonable enough and she has not known me for long so it seems odd that she can diagnose me without really knowing me). When I told her this she informed me that it makes no difference, this remedy is apparently one of only two that they are allowed to give to a patient without the patients consent.

So please tell me what this remedy is and what's "wrong" with me

I find this somewhat unethical as at no point did I ask to be treated nor express any wish to even be helped. I also find it somewhat judgemental that homeopaths consider me wrong and in need of help, wheather I like it or not.

Since then I have learned that this remedy is infact plant based. Though given the fact that I could be force fed something to change me, I'm still not thrilled with the idea when they refuse to share with me what is wrong that merits such forced treatment.

Thank you Dr K I have talked with my aunt and was given the reply that, given the nature of my troubles they have decided not to tell me anything.
Though she has let slip that part of it is a lack of trust in others (with extreme cases suffering from fear of poison, which I do not) and has conceded that when the remebdy arrives although she is with her professional capacity to force it upon me she will not and that it is my choice to take it. When she told me this I said I will not be treated unless I know what for and so we are still at a stalemate, if anyone knows what I am being treated for and what this remedy is please say.

For clarification she agreed not to give it to me when I threatened to go on hunger strike, which was after she said she would slip it into my food.

J.P from what I gather Homeopath's view everyone as in need of something and symptoms can range into the emotional and phsycological which is why I don't know my symptoms. Physically I'm perfectly healthy.

That's really ineresting. When I read this question, I thought "I actually hope Kalos gave a good anti alt med response since this homeopath is 'bad'."
I am extremely opposed to people who believe they are 100% right and the other party has no free will or choice in the decision and that it's their duty to make people follow their choice against their own free will since it's "better for them." Your aunt is clearly violating this, and to an extent showing the fanatical aspect of certain alt med people, and using homeopathy as a way to project some of her personality flaws.
Yet Kalos blew it and just repeated his same lines.
Homeopathy is plain water, therefore it doesnt matter and
homeopathy is not academically acceptable. Let me go flame someone in this thread.
Seeing this occur here leads me to postulate his mind is a lot more robotic than I had initially expected. I thought the rule with debunkers was "use good logical reasons if they are available, if none are resort to sound bites with emotional appeal." Kalos skipped the first half. That's really unexpected.

Back to your question;
There is a possiblity you have a condition that homeopathic remedys are inneffective for treating if the patient is aware of, or will be psycologically traumatic if you are made aware of before they go away. This is unlikely, and is mostly just charity to give her the possibility of being a better person, and I think doesn't excuse her from how shes acting her (although you could be compassionate if she's socially challenged).

Second, she's to some degree mentally ill.

Third, she just wants to have a power trip over you. The way she's mentioning theres a committe of experts you can't see who all view you as having problems is a common psycological tactic to make the target feel helpless and accept that as truth.

As far as the remedys go, given my understanding of the remedys, it seems as though you would ruin them by mixing them into food or drink. This implies she might be on a weird crazy trip, or that the food thing was an empty threat.

If you are really worried about the remedy itself (ithey are almost always harmless but I can understand your apprehsions), get a moderately strong magnet that you can conceal and run it over the water before you drink it. It's a long explanation, but doing that basically erases the homeopathic remedy and turns it back into water.

Hope that helps. Hopefully a good homopath who knows what the actual (assuming she's truthful) condition is can relpy here to explain it.

She may just be trying to give you an herbal/ vitamin supplement. But...You should never put unknown substances into your body, and as a homeopath, she should respect that.
Sometimes homeopaths (medical docs too) can get a bit of a superiority complex and do the whole..."I sense your aura that you need more...blah blah blah..." whatever. YOU are the only one who can determine what your body needs. You can be in touch with your needs.
Let her know that you would like to be whole, but you would like to be able to know what to fix. Tell her that your body will not let you partake of something without being a whole self...body and mind, so you would llike to know what they feel is wrong with you and their proposition to fix it.

If she refuses, tell her that you have no choice but to go to the doctor and tell him or her any symptoms you feel you have. Scaring her into telling you by threatening conventional medicine could be what she needs.
If you feel threatened, do tell someone who can help (police, doctor, counselor.)

My answer to you, dear:

It doesn't sound like your Aunt is an accredited homeopathic if they refuse to tell you. From your story, she sounds insane.

IM or e mail me, because we need to have an educational discussion. My understanding is to respect a Vegan's wishes and to explain every ingredient and science behind it. It is also to be on paper, so that the patient can take the information to their medical doctor, and this process allows an individual to take charge of their own health.

You need to be in control and it sounds like an insane delusional story or if this is really happening to you dear, then they are praying upon your emotional instability due to a self esteem problem that you are going through right now.

I work with BA's and PhDs who follow very strict government regulated guidelines when practicing homeopathy, safely.

I invite you to explain to me what your going through and I can help you figure it out, which is quite empowering for you when you learn how to get at the cause of the problem.

If the cause is that they are violating your human rights, then the police need to be involved which in turn, social services needs to investigate your Aunt.

Otherwise, what could be wrong with you?

Your Welcome,

LLJames

First of all, you don't have to take it if you don't want to.
They probably are not trying to treat some serious illness (and shouldn't anyway), and probably are trying to balance your system or something like that.
I think you should know what they think is wrong, so you can decide for youself what to do and see if it's working yourself.
PS: Regarding some of the people here regurgitating Steven Barrett, even a Jr. High School student knows the different between a highly dilluted solution and "just plain water." Apparently you guys aren't that smart.

I find this very troubling. It's unethical and illegal to treat without patient informed consent with exceptions. Then again, we only have your side of the story here.

Talk with your aunt, explain to her that you like to understand what's really going on. Or get a second opinion from a different health professional. If you still feel threatened, please consult a medical doctor and your parents.

Well I am not sure what do you really want to ask, I am a Homeopathic Practitioner. By what you have said and you have not given your symptoms, Homeopathic remedies are prescribed according to the patients individual symptoms from head to toes, Physical and Mind symptoms. What you have said here by that I conclude that you do have some sort of apprehension about taking medicines maybe because of an unkown and unfounded fear that someone might be trying to poison you, because as you have said your Aunt is a qualified Homeopath so she must have observed this before she reached a conclusion on your remedy. I amnot sure what remedy she has in mind for you it could be anyone out on a lot of remedies with the fear of being poisoned symptom. I can only reach a positive conclusion if you post your symptoms in complete detail.
And just a bit of friendly advice my friend, if your Aunt is a qualified Homeopath and she loves you because she is trying to cure you of something which you might not be able to comprehend, she has your best interests at heart and I can assure you the remedy won't harm you. I took someones advice a long way back on Homeopathic Medicine which I had never asked for and I am thankful to the gentleman who gave me the advice and cured me and I will be thankful to that person all my life, God Bless his Soul. Sometimes we do have to trust the people who love us for our own good. And another thing I can assure you she is going to give you a remedy which is neither made from animal matter nor anything veggie its something made out of a mineral and the only thing which will happen to you is you will feel better after taking it. I am not trying to force you into taking it just reassuring you that your Aunt is not trying to harm you and has your best interests at heart. The rest is upto you. And if you decide to post your symtoms email me to check them out and I will do my best to help you. I am not trying to sell you anything just trying to help you without any cost or fees.
Best of Health my friend.
Take care and God Bless you and your loved ones.

ritt,
force feeding anything to anyone is abuse, as other posters have noted.

Homeopathic remedies are effective and are not plain water.
"...successive dilutions ... may alter permanently the physical-chemical properties of the solvent water. The nature of the phenomena here described still remains unexplained, but significant experimental results are obtained" see source #1.

Please beware of those who do not understand...see source #2

Do you have any symptoms ? If you don't have any symptoms then nothing is wrong with you.You don't mention having any symptoms.

You need to read up on why homoeopathy doesn't work and confront her with it (i.e. she needs to be taken down a peg).
