This question popped up in my mind. Who do you think would win in a debate over capitalism; Karl Marx or Adam Smith?

This is merely out of curiousity.

No one would obviously win. They would probably talk past each other and people would perceive the winner to be the person they already agreed with.

Even in his own writings, Marx rarely addressed Smith or his school of thought directly.

Marx of course! He was smarter, understood social structures, historical dialectics, and... he was right, (well mostly right)!
Of course it would come down to how the media portrayed the event, which of course would naturally be biased in the favor of Smith (unfairly of course) because of the way in which our system is structured.
In the end this is a very subjective question because one's Weltanschauung is determined by the social constructions of one's culture, but this can be remedied only by one's intellectual fortitude and critical cognition.

Marx cos he had a bit of character, I feel sure he would destroy Smith's argument.

Smith

How many command economies do you see beating market economies.
