Apparently you're not a US citizen, so it means that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) must authorize you to work, probably it's to keep you from getting certain jobs, like high-level government jobs that are limited to citizens only.

That means your SS is valid when applying for jobs and your presence in the US is legal.

You will have to update your SS once you get your permanent residency to remove that annotation.
