I would buy a can of compressed air from an electronics shop and try blowing the dust out of the fan.

If it is not dusty, then you are going to want to bring it to an authorized HP repair shop to have the fan replaced under warranty. With a reciept, your warranty will run until next August.

If you live in a relatively large town, 25,000+, you should have no problem finding an HP authorized service center. Best buy is one of them.

If it's a new box, and if you still have the purchase papers, then it's still probably under Manufacturer's warranty. It's worth a shot, anyway. Those HPs (like mine) are notorious for overheating. Groan. Get into an online chat with HP. Be prepared with the serial number and other numbers on the bottom of the box. They're little tiny things, so fetch a magnifying glass, if you need. The HP folks online are quite polite, easy to chat with, very generous with their time, eager to help if they can (at least in my experience). If it's at all possible you can get a fan repair or replacement, that's the first step, and your local repair place, unfortunately, the next$.

I would say to contact HP, for service or placement. I believe the standard warranty is one year on all new products from HP.
