While I agree homophobia is ridiculous. I think it is like anything else some are truly closet gays but some are just ignorant. I don't think you can generalize. That being said, trust your instincts and go for it you only live once. Good luck

Yeah, of course. I knew this girl that went off on me because she said I was looking at her butt. This was before I was out, so I was very pissed and very scared. I saw her a few months ago. She has a fade, and she was definitely looking at my butt, she made a point to make it obvious. So yes, sometime homophobia translates into homosexuality, but not always. I know some genuine homophobes.

I had a friend who was very homophobic in high school. He came out many years later. I think a lot of people who are homophobic hate themselves for being like they are and project it onto others.

First of all yes there are "closet" homosexuals that shout about being homophobic in order to cover it up. But, please do not think that you can get him to come out. There is a reason they are like this and it can be very dangerous for you to go up against it. Find someone that is comfortable with who they are and are in a position to love you back.

It's often true that the most vehement homophobes base their prejudice on the fear that they, themselves, are gay. Sen. Larry Craig springs to mind, immediately. J.Edgar Hoover, who terrorized homosexuals with blackmail threats in the '40's, '50's and '60's and who lived his entire adult life with a male partner, is another glaring example of self-hatred focused outward.
It's a baffling and heart-rending pity, isn't it?

Haha... was in your situation.
He's most likely gay. If he's not to terms with his sexuality, don't even try. It's something he needs to do, and you really can't help him. Coming out for me was about accepting myself, and there was nobody that could do that except me.

'Homophobia' is a contrived condition used to describe most anyone who disagrees with the gay lifestyle. There is no such thing... except in perception.
