Ok- I always see in these prison related scenes from movies and tv about inmates putting ground glass in food, or being afraid of eating ground glass.
What actually happens when you swallow ground glass? I mean, is it just painful? or is it something that would kill you? Or is this just a myth?

It's an age old torture technique. If it does not kill the prisoner, he will have severe health problems and once he finds out about it will starve himself to death.
Nothing new or special. Just your usual sadism.

Ground into powder-like fragments? I'm not sure how severe the lacerations on the esophagus would be. Stomach juices are pretty strong, not sure if it would break down the glass.

my guess would be that you would get cut internally, as glass always has sharp edges (if its ground, though...I'm not sure).
Also, always take anything you see in a movie with a grain of glassIMEAN salt.

It would just pass through you. If there are sharp endges in teh glass, it may cut some stuff up, but really, glass is insert and you'll just poop it out.

It probably wont hurt. Unless you cough, then it'll break and end up in your blood stream. Youll then have to urinate to get it out, and that will hurt even more. Just dont walk or it will make crunching sounds, and that will probably hurt.
