I have a 98 Amigo 2.2L and when i bought it the battery was toast, i replaced it. When i checked the voltage with the new batter and the car was running, it read like 16.5..I thought it was the regulator but ignred it. Now the car wont start and the battery is reading 11.7 vlots idle. Is this ok and should i just change the alternator or did i fry the battery from having a fauly regulator that kept the vehicle at 16.5 volts most of the time?

It sounds such as think about a nasty floor connection or a loose connector in the back of the sprint. a substantial wiring harness may be rubbing someplace also. If there are a collection of blown fuses then a rubbing harness may be the answer. this is likewise available that you've a substantial pc difficulty. between the biggest issues I have considered with GM vehicles is from the side placed up battery. If the connections are not any more sparkling and tight then you honestly will improve all kinds of odd issues. The extreme voltage code you've can be a hallmark of the battery dropping connection. If the automobile is operating and also you remove or loosen the battery connection the the voltage will spike. also examine the skill wire on the alternator and make certain this is sparkling and tight. If a substantial skill wire rubs the body it may also reason user-friendly issues to boot. enable me comprehend what you discover.
