AWAKE (which opens tomorrow)
My review:
All i can say is WOW! I saw this movie a few days ago at an advanced screening and all I can say is that it was really one of the best movies I have ever seen. The story is completely brilliant and original, the acting was perfect and everything was just right on target. Its hard to say much more about the story than is given in the above summary without giving away key twists, but it might sound a little boring, being about a heart transplant and the wife's reaction, but trust me this movie is so far from boring, even in the very beginning which is where a lot of thriller/suspense movies are lacking. This really is an excellent movie and is totally worth it. I'm not going to put any spoilers in this review, but this is certainly a movie with some great twists and turns. I haven't been this excited about an upcoming release since The Sixth Sense or Memento. Hard to believe this is the director's first feature. Everyone has to see this, this weekend, with a bunch of friends it's so fun!!
This movie leaves you so disturbed and you feel so uncomfortable.
It's an AMAZING movie, everyone should see it this weekend!

Without a doubt it is Event Horizon. I think it came out when I was 14 or 15...? It's about a rescue crew sent out into deep space to recover survivors from a space ship that disappeared years before and suddenly resurfaced. When the crew boards the ship, they find the original crew missing, and then weird, inexplicable things begin to happen. I'm not the biggest sci-fi fan, and only saw it because a friend wanted to see it. But man, I had nightmares for weeks after. I can safely say it has been the only movie to frighten me to that degree.

The most terrifying movie for me is 1963's The Haunting. (The one from 1999 was dreck.) That one keeps me up for several nights because there are some scenes that I just can't watch at night, so I go back to it the next day.
Another one was the original Night of the Living Dead. That one kept me checking over my shoulder, looking down the longer than normal hallway, sure the dead were coming from the darker than normal kitchen that was fine just a few hours ago.
Ummm, I seem to like the oldies. I guess they don't make movies like they used to.

The first time I saw "The Blair Witch Project", I was terrified to the point I cried. (I absolutely hate the woods, and while I knew it was fiction, the acting in that film, coupled with the scary sound effects, really scared me.) My one and only camping experience was very similar to that, and I've never been able to go out in the woods at night since.
Lately, the only movie that remotely creeped me out was "Vacancy". Not even a good movie, but again, the plot made me feel very nervous. Even my boyfriend was somewhat distraught by it.

A real oldie, from when I was a child. "Island of the Dead" starring Ellen Drew, and Boris Karloff as a Greek ship captain. Scared the .... out of me the point that I ran out of the theater ( but returned). The story goes that the captain's wife appears to have died from "sleeping sickness" though she is really alive. She is buried above ground in a wooden coffin. When it rains, drops of water slowly loosen the screws holding the coffin together. She awakes screaming,. breaks out of her coffin, grabs a knife, and runs around stabbing people. Scary, OMG! Would love to get a copy of it.

The Exorcist. Nothing else has ever even come close. Wasn't as scary last time I watched it, but the first time when I was 14 was downright traumatizing.
