I saw it coming. I watched the same debate with the Dems a couple weeks ago. And it seemed like they were thrown softballs. Why didn't CNN have the intelligence to have the right/important questions asked to the Reps. More should have been on Taxes, Iraq and Healthcare. And how big of a joke was the Gay General? Ask important questions....

Tom Cruise: Not tough questions- they were irrelevant questions. Ask what is really important to the majority of Americans.

Yes it was a farce. The questions are puff ball questions. It seems that CNN picked the most irrelevent questions from the audience as if that is what the audience is really thinking. This blantant undermining of legitimate debate and legitimate questioning is so incredibly insulting to the American people. From what I heard CNN planted a question with a student to ask question Hilary about pearls and diamonds during the Democratic debates. The student wanted to ask a more important question but CNN wouldn't let her. It's obvious from this action that CNN is not liberal at all. It's obvious that these debates are a farce since they were taken out of the hands of the League of Woman voters back in 2000 by the Rove/Bush/Cheney refusal to 'debate' if they lead the debates. Why? Because they actually asked legitamate questions that the candidates couldn't skirt around.
The debates have become completely irrelevent as a result.
As a matter of fact, the entire television news stations have become completely irrelevent because they don't really report real news. There is no real journalism going on with them. It's frivolous infotainment. The leading news on Fox last night was hotel room cleanliness of the glassware in the hotel room bathrooms. How on earth is that remotely considered news? It's so insulting to know that the American people own the airwaves and this is what they get in return. It's all a nightmarish circus performance.

Consider the source CNN the Clinton News Network!! Why do the republican candidates have the guts to debate on CNN but Democrats have repeatedly refused to debate on FOX news? Thats a farce in itself! Afraid of something are they? Like having to for once admit the truth?

It was more like the Blue Collar Comedy tour then it was a debate.

Some of the jokes were funny, but not as funny as most of the answers!!

There has yet to be a televised debate it has all just been question and answer.

Well, look how evenhanded CNN is behaving with these ‘debates’.

For the Democratic ‘debate’ they had Democratic activists planted in the audience posing as ‘undecided voters’

For the Republican ‘debate’ they had Democratic activists planted in the audience posing as ‘undecided voters’

Is that equal treatment, or what?

The whole debate is a showcase for the questions that will never get asked on this level - enjoy them. Next debate will feature the same canned questions and focus - group approved answers.

All those so called "debates" are farces. First of all they are not debates but question and answer sessions. Secondly the reason for that format is it is quicker and easier for the media to get sound bites and a few gotchas to run ad nauseum.

I thought the debate was actually good. I know for sure the questions were more pointed than they were in the democrat debate. I don't know what your talking about softballs for.. Those questions stung and most did an admirable job answering them.

Yes, the crowd was out of control and the questions were generally designed for entertainment value rather than substance. The YouTube Democratic debate was similar; no disrespect to YouTube, but I thiink that format has seen its day.

It was the best televised debate I have ever seen. The debate should have been longer, so more questions could have been asked.

So you think it's unfair for candidates to have to answer tough questions. It was a valid question. Why do you think it didn't deserve an answer?
