Hi,

The ^ symbol means raised to the power of.

So x^2 means "x squared"

On your calculator, you should have a corresponding symbol. Just go ahead and put the 1.01 ^ (0.3326) in there and then multiply the result by 2.43, and you'll be all set.

Hope that helps,
Matt

^ was first confusing to me as well. What ^ basically represents superscript, which in math, basically is used for exponents. ^ in general means "to the power of"

For example, 5^2 means 5 to the second power, which would equal 25. Hope this helped!!!

L = 2.43 x 1.01^ 0.3326
L = 2.43 x 1
L = 2.43

The symbol '^' means raised to that power/index number.
So
L = 2.43 x 1.01^ 0.3326
L = 2.43 x 1
L = 2.43 ( by approximation on my calculator).

Usually the carrot (or ^) symbol denotes "to the power of". So for example, 3^2 = 9.

In this equation, L = 2.438
