The rise of Hitler and the Nazis in Germany. Covered in your textbook and in the readily available book "The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich ' by William Shirer.. If it is already taken, the emergence of Stalin's Russia after the death of Lenin in 1924. Fascism in Spain and the Spanish Civlil War in the 1930s -plenty of material in your book I guess, if not, plenty of library & net resources you can use.
If you prefer a social or American topic how about the campaign for womens' rights in the US in the 1920's and 30's.
Very much a democracy issue especially the right to birth control and equality of treatment.

U can talk about the various art mouvements that embodies the spirit and unease of the time. There's Dadaism right after the first world war, surrealism or you can concentrate on one particular artist during that time. You can talk about the effects of the different existentialistcs views held by Jean-Paul Sartre and Albert Camus in France during that time.

You won't find information on how "bing crosby changed american cinema." You need to find information about his roles, people who came after him, etc and form your OWN opinion on the topic and base your paper off of that with supporting evidence.
