i need to do an essay on anything that happened during 1920-1945 .
unfortunately most of the other topics have been taken, i originally picked ' Bing Crosby and his effect on American cinema ' but i haven't been able to find relevant information on it.... nothing really !
the book that we got our topics from is called ' Dictatorship and Democracy 1920-1945 by Richard Fogarty ' so if anyone has a topic that will be unique and relevant please do tell me ;)

If you want to stay in the arts, how about 1939? During that year both Gone With the Wind, The Wizard of Oz, Stagecoach, Dark Victory, Hunchback of Notre Dame, Mr. Smith Goes to Washington and Of Mice & Men (there were more but those are standouts). Why was 1939 so important for movies? We knew we were heading into war, so that was part of it. Also, they were some of the first full-color movies where the color was realistic. Frank Capra was the reigning king of directors, and his movies were "feel good" for the most part.
