I DESPERATELY want to have another child. My 5 year old already has this disease and I am depressed daily because I am afraid I will never have the chance to experience taking home a healthy baby or have grandkids. I cannot accept not having more children but we cannot afford PGD/IFV-- not covered by insurance. I also had an abortion when I was 17. I do not regret it but always think that there is a possibility that maybe that baby didn't have the disorder. I am thinking that I may be willing to do this once, but do not want to decrease my chances of successful IVF/PGD if we are ever able to do it. It breaks my heart every day when my daughter doesn't have a sibling to play with.

Everyone says that only we can determine what to do, but we cannot. We are torn. I feel strongly one way at times and the other way too. This has been a decision going on for 3 1/2 years.

That is a hard one. It depends on how much you want to be a mother. There is also adoption to concider if you want a child.

I would do the CVS, but only so I could be prepared if the baby did have the disorder, NOT so I could have an abortion. You have to take into consideration that another child might have this and do you want to put your child through that?? Adoption sounds like the best option to me....or possibly a surrogate or sperm donor, depending on whether it comes from you or your husband. Good luck. This is definitely not an easy decision.

this is a question only you can answer. if you chose to get pregnant and do CVS testing and the results came back positive would you then emotionally be able to terminate the pregnancy? If yes than get some good genetic counseling a great Doctor and try.My heart goes out to you and your dilemma. I pray for the best for you and hope all turns out well

Maybe, but I would also seriously consider adoption or foster care, especially if there was already one special-needs child in the family, or if my family was financially strapped.

If I did choose to get pregnant I would NOT do the cvs testing because there are risks involved, and abortion would not be an option.

NO, I wouldn't get pregnant. I'd adopt. Thankfully, I didn't have to make that desicion.
