Only time or finding the little beast can help. It has happened to me, it was 6 weeks, I believe.

When you use poison with Rodents it makes them want to drink non stop before they die. Most of the time you will find the dead animals near a water source. That does not just mean a sink, toilet or tub. If you have a water pipe in the wall that gets condensation on it they could also be there. If you are in an area that is already hot out right now that could mean any cold water supply pipe in your home. If you have a basement or an attic it might help ID the locations of the pipes and the smell also should get stronger if they are near that pipe. I would start by checking in the floor or walls around plumbing fixtures first. I personally stopped using poison for this reason and only use traps now, they are just as effective. Good Luck!

I agree with absent farmer....Nothing you can do unless you tear into the dry wall and pull that critter out. They will eventually stop stinking. For many years I had that problem, until I figured out that they were climbing in these open pipe things the previous owner had put in for roof drainage..Weird I know...(they are still there) I bought at the hardware store small holed hardware cloth (actually wire grid not cloth at all) double folded the wire large enough to cover the hole with enough to wrap around the outside of the pipe...and used the plastic ties to tighten up the wire. No more mice in the walls. Check the property for holes....and get the hardware cloth and use it for repairs...you can use a heavy duty stapler to attach it as well to cover roof vents and gable vents.

Get rid of any new live mice. Put down the plastic traps from rentokill don't bother with the the old fashioned wooden ones. It will take loads of trouble to get the dead ones out but after a while they will disapear naturally by decomposition and insects. Block up any obvious ways into your house to stop any more coming in.

Like the one answer I would call a professional and ask how to get them out of the wall. The smell will eventually go away.
