that story is so messed up, the people who put up the nooses barely even got punished, i would probably beat up someone if they were taunting my race.

i believe there was wrong on both sides. but i also the boys are getting what they deserved. yes a black kid was beat up but he knew that was going to happen when he showed up at the all white party. But the jena 6 attacked a fellow student on school grounds. these boys should be severly punished. have you seen on the news how many kids have been killed at school. On the other hand I do believe the boys that hung the noose was not punished hard enough. all this could have been avoided if the officials would have punished the noose hanging boys. but also this could have been avoided if the jena 6 would have retaliated in the legal way. there is a court and law chain of command. Keep trying til you get the answer you want. yelling racism is just a way for the jena 6 to blame someone else for what they did wrong. just like new orleans. wow coincidence both in Louisiana. GO FIGURE!

No, to your question, because white people do stupid things specially in the south, no wonder rebels yell. On the other hand, If I knew that byasking the principal if it was allright to sit under a tree and rhetorically he said" You may or could sit anywhere you like" and he knowing that the tree was frequented by white kids and suddenly nooses hung from the tree shows me the mystery of deep hate toward colored people and any people of dark complexion. Add to the fact that a school official instigated
and added complexity to the incident. Shows that nothing has change in the south.

People don't know the whole story. If the principal would had told the African American kids not to do so in order to avoid chaos and commotion then the winners would have been the pricipal and the Jena Six kids. When people of all kind hate, they murder the rights of the innocent. By showing restraint and love to another you WIN over spiritual death. I am alive because I fight with my holy given spirit and not with my hands or my thoughts. The conflict to do battle is never with people but with evil itself.

If I got into a fight with every non-white who bad mouthed whites I'd be one busy white-boy :p

Besides, why should I care? I don't indentify myself with my 'race'. I'm a man, same as any other. If some idiots can't get past racial-based thinking that's their problem. I pitty them, I don't get angered by them.

The Jena 6 case is a little different though. It wasn't as much about race as social castigation and humiliation -using race as the vehicle. I can understand why the young men were angered to the point of violence.
However, there must be consequences to bad behavior - on both sides. And I'm sorry, but beating someone is a greater offense than taunting someone.
There did need ot be a common-sense middle ground between charging them as adults with attempted murder, and letting them go scot-free.

No. And the Jena Six are criminals who should be punished for what they did.

The white kids were guilty of racial intimidation, which in some places is classified as a hate crime, and should have been prosecuted accordingly. But what the Jena Six did was a hate crime as well. And because they actually assaulted someone (rather than a veiled threat to harm someone), their punishment should be greater than whatever the white kids would (should) have gotten.

No spoken words or insults can ever make it OK for "them to beat him to the ground".

This Jena Six thing is bs!!!! The boys that hung the nooses were idiots and will probably grow up to be hood wearing members of the KKK and then hopefully put in jail for committing a crime.

That being said they did not physically harm anyone, and for those six kids to beat him up was wrong. If they end up getting sentenced they deserve it.

If someone calls you a name does that justify you kicking their butt? No!!! Would I blame you if you did? Probably not, but if you got arrested for doing it I would say you did the crime you do the time.

By the way, these six kids that beat the racist up, unfortunately did nothing but help to prove his point.

No.
The nooses were terrible and showed real stupidity on the part of the guys that put them up.
But, beating up the guy isn't an answer, that's for sure.

It is sinking to the level of the person that put up the nooses.
There are usually non violent answers to situations.

I don't agree with that racist guy at all - he's stupid.

I'm with Twons: Violence is not the answer. They could have reported it, let the authorities deal with it. Instead they decided that a beating was the best answer.
Not that the noose thing was any less appalling, Those kids should have gotten harsher punishments.

Of course! I have ZERO tolerance for racism; it is illogical and a complete waste of time and energy.

To people who say sticks and stones and blah, let me tell you this: I have completely healed from all previous physical fights, but some of the stuff that people have said to me still hurts. Words can leave a wound/scar like nothing else sometimes. I will not be insulted in any way and accept it, ESPECIALLY for being a black woman.

That does not make me ANY less of a mature adult.

Hey, I grew up in Germany not many years after the war.
I was beat up everyday on the way home by Italian boys who hated Americans.
There is no excuse for what the Jena 6 did.
Nor is there an excuse for displaying tools of hate

No. But I can relate living in Israel with Palestinians. Some Israelis and Palestinians encourage the animosity within our society and discourage peace and unity because of racism and misunderstanding. Suicide bombers are prevalent here. We get real close to the Lord and familly. We pray alot and leave things like this in God's hands.
