I am very grateful she isn't going to get the 40 lashes. She is definitely a lucky woman for only jail time.

From my perspective, it seems more like a prize. However, a person who has lived in Sudan all his life and has a lot of friends and family there would probably look at it as the worst possible punishment imaginable.

I would hate to be deported from a country in the middle of the desert whichis going through a civil war

Depends on why you were there in the first place. If you were just visiting there and can leave with all your belongings, including family members, no problem. Not sure why you would want to be there in the first place, other than to see another part of the world.
