We call it a "blowout". Nothing you can do about it that you haven't tried. My daughter is 10 months old and I just got a little baggie of poop clothes yesterday from daycare caused by a major blowout. Make sure the diapers are higher in the back and lower in the front...and just wait...the frequency will decrease. I bought/got a lot of cheap onsies at garage sales and sales at stores and if it's a bad blowout I've cut her out of them before. Just slice up the front (being careful of course!) and trash it...they don't cost as much as the spray and wash I have to soak them in to clean and then the added worry of poop in the hair!

I don't know if you can really prevent it or not, it's very common. My 4 month old daughter does it EVERYday, lol! We use Pampers Swaddlers, and I've tried going up a size, folding the top part of the back down a little, keeping the top snug, really nothing has helped. It seems to make more of a mess when she's on her back or sitting up, if she's on her belly it's okay. But I have to say I much prefer the back poops over the poops that go up the front on a little girl, so many places to clean I'm afraid I'll leave a little behind and she'll get an infection! I think it may be worse with breastfed babies too because their poop is so loose it just goes everywhere. Well, good luck!

My 4 month old boy has blown out Pampers, Huggies and the Walmart store brand ones. We switched to the size 3 Kirkland diapers from Costco and not a single blowout (although close). They seem to be higher in the backside than other brands. Once you start him on solids or cereal you won't have this problem as bad. Remember formula or breast milk it's a liquid diet so poop tends to be runny.
Oh, and skip the over the head onesies and get the ones that snap up in the front (I don't know why but the long sleeved version is hard to find in front snap onesies). They are so much easier to get on and off.

I know this question is old, but I m adding this in case anybody else googles and comes across it:
If you do have a blowout, onesies are actually made so they can be pulled down over the hips rather than the head. That s why the neck area has those little "flaps," so you can pull the arms through. So no poop in the hair!

I had this problem with Pampers's products. If you haven't already, try using Huggies and see if this helps. I have been using the Walgreen Surpeme Diapers lately on my 19 month old and think that these diapers are really good. The Walgreen Surpreme are a mix between Pampers and Huggies diapers.

We call this a back slpash! I have only been able to grab my 3 month old and flip her over on her tummy when I hear her grunting. Other than that it suckd. I use Pampers swaddlers in size 2-3 ans since then the back slpash has been better, but I still have to roll her onsie over her head and get the bath ready. OH the pleasures of motherhood :)

Well sorry to say this can just happen even though you try everything else.
It gets better as they get older and the poops are less runny.
I have heard that huggies are not as good for boys but if you have tried many types I think your boy is just a pooper. It is good that he does not have the other issue, but I know how gross it is!
Once my girl pooped and it was in every arm and leg hole in her PJs!

Yep, it's pretty common, particularly if the baby is in a carseat. I found that it happened less when my daughter was upright in a sling. Just make sure you have an extra outfit or two in the diaper bag!

maybe your just not putting it on right .that doesn't happen to my babies, sometimes pee would but i know why it happens it is because if i'm really busy and i don't change them fast and then the diaper gets full.try to have your mom or someone else put on the diaper to see if it happens again, and if it does then maybe your baby just poops it out hard until it gets out of the diaper.good luck on that!
