I had to do a project like this once.
you should maybe use one of the theories of development.
and definetely do a powerpoint. it is not boring at all .. well depends how well you handle yourself speaking in front of a crowd.

pictures in the powerpoint are good but dont give two points and 3 pictures in every slide. you have to create uniformity in the two and also use pictures that relate to the topic in the slide.

you can also make some kind of a quiz for 30 people or as much classmates as you have and tell them to test their knowledge on your topic. this is good because it impresses the teacher and distracts students a little so you get into the presentation a little bit more relaxed without so many people looking at you.

Powerpoint is great! And be sure to have hand outs. The brain development is amazing at that age. Milestones, physical and mental...and how much development then impacts the future. You could talk the whole day about it!

can you incorporate them into games to be played by the audience (assuming it's a small enough size audience and appropriate room).. really.. it doesn't matter how you present it.. if you get the audience involved you will have their attention.. if you don't they will find it boring.

give birth on the desk, and then make everyone sit there for a year while you take care of it.
