I have an english class that I need to write instructions for. We need to write them about anything, but its so broad that I have no ideas. One girl is doing how to carve a jack-o-lantern. Any ideas would be appreciated

What if you wrote instructions for writing instructions... you could talk about how you first figure out what the instructions are for, then you review the process and write it out step by step, etc...

How to eat a steamed crab? How to short sheet a bed? (My first problem was finding a topic sentence or thesis statement for such an essay, but I worked out something like this: "[name the task] is a/an [adjective] task [or more specific word] that one can do [or more specifc verb] in a few [or specifc number] steps."

You can pick anything. I would pick anything that you normally do everyday so it makes it easier on you. You have to remember though, that when writing instructions, you are pretending the audience(or the person following them), has no idea how to do it, so BE VERY SPECIFIC

how complex does it have to be?

When I was in high school I did one of those that had to be moderately complex, so I did hot to tie a karate belt. I liked it because it wasn't too tricky, and it was original.

When I was in college we had to do something similar, but some everyday task (to teach us about algorithms). I did how to wash your hair.

I did this - it's soooo easy!!!!

Do it on "How to make a paper airplane"

It's simple but not so simple that you don't get marks.
It's the easy way to get the marks you need!!

Good luck!!
