im having a difficult time finding auditions, and I've considered submitting to some through craigslist.com but I'm so worried that these people are all scam artists. Has anyone at least gotten a legitimate audition through them? And before anyone says anything I'm a legal adult so i dont need the "talk to your parents" reply.

I've gotten several auditions, and some work through Craig's List. In my area CL is a supplemental source of audition info [in addition to Theater Bay Area and Backstage West] many theater groups also exist on yahoo groups for the purpose of posting audition and classes in specific areas.

I love Craigslist and I've found many bargains on there; however, I have found that most of the job postings on craigslist are by companies and individuals that are having a difficult time locating help through the typical means. With that said, I know you are a legal adult but I would recommend that you take someone along with you to the auditions for your protection.

Craigslist can be ok if you are careful. There are undeniably a LOT of weirdos and scams on the site. Scroll down the listings and it's obvious. I have made a few good contacts through the postings, so just use the resource selectively.

Ive gotten a few jobs off of craigslist. The key is wading through the wierdos and the crapola to find the jods that are legit and a good match for you.

Overall not bad for a free site.

Craigslist is awesome. Specifically for finding renters, selling items to local people, and services, (ie-electricians, etc.)
Obviously you will need to use common sense and prescreen/check licenses/etc. for anyone that you find on CL, but this is not different finding the similiar resources on non-craigslist sources.

Not all craigslist auditions are scams, independent films also use it. Just read carefully, and apply judiciously. If you are trying to becom an actor via finding your own auditions, you are only doing one small thing to help yourself. To learn how to become an actor, read my profile and write to me at my aol address.
