My bf and I set a spending limit that way we can purchase anything we want to within our means. This year we both are a little tighter on money and decided to cap out on $200--pretty expensive gifts can be purchased with that, such as field seats to a Football Bowl game, or something filled with little gifts he's been wanting.
The important thing is, if you purchase him something really expensive make sure that you can afford it and that he will truly appreciate it.

I gotta take me some notes so I can find ladies like this. The only gifts I get are after I hand them some money to buy them. Perhaps I need to find a date that does not sleep at the homeless shelter?

No. Because even though I love him, he the big cheapskate you'll ever meet. Why would I spend money on him when I'll be lucky to open a box of Band-Aids on Christmas morning?

I just bought a gift for his birthday. It was kinda pricey but he deserves the best.

No, he doesn't appreciate the high dollared items since he feels most of them are overpriced and unnecessary.
I love that about him.
