Yesterday when I came home (about 5:30 p.m.) there was a bug about 1/2 inch long laying on it's back on my kitchen floor. It was brown and had antennas but other than that I didn't look close other than to spray it. I am ULTRA paranoid about roaches, I've never had them, but now I'm freaked out. I've lived in my house for 6 months now and have never seen any evidence of roaches (and I look!) So do you think it was to early for it to be out? Also, my dad said that roaches have no problem flipping themselves over, this bug did. Also, I just brought in my Christmas tree- a live one I cut down. Do you think it could have been some random bug brought in with that! I know when you see one there are a hundred more, but wouldn't know? I get up in the night to get a drink or whatever every so often and have NEVER seen anything until that one that may or may not be a roach. What do you think? What should I do? (Sorry for rambling, I'm freaking out!) Thanks!

More then likely the the roach came from the tree. I really do understand how you feel about roaches. I am a FREAK when I see a roach in my house. A couple of years ago a nursing home closed down around the corner from my house. The whole neighborhood was infested with roaches for months on top of months. I finally bought a can of "Roach Proof" and followed the instructions. For two weeks we vacuumed the roaches up with my shop vac and put them in plastic bags to keep them from dropping eggs and the eggs hatching.
Thank God, I haven't seen a roach since.
Good Luck.

It sounds like it was a roach. You probably have an infestation, where there's one, there's usually hundreds.

Roaches are no big deal. Just put a few roach traps around your place and they'll go away. I've come to the realization that you'll never be entirely free of them, especially if you live in the Southeast, as long as they're not climbing down your face at night, which can happen.

hmm...i know that you would like to hear that it probably was some random tree bug, but it sounds like it could very well have been a roach. dont let the little critters freak you out so much. even though they aint pretty, just remember who is holding the bug spray....lol

Well, sounds like it is a roach. If you truly think you may have a problem, then call an exterminator. He will be able to tell you if have a problem or not, and if you do, then I'm sure he can fix that too ^_^

eww so gross. I hate roaches. Here's a link to a picture of one if it remotely looks like this its a roach. You may have brought it in w/ the tree as that is their natural habitat. and be glad it was so small we have them up to 3 inches here and can be bigger in other places.
