My biggest complaint is that most people in our circle WANT everything great for their families (mostly their children) but then don't want to DO anything about it.
They want church youth group to be great, they want scouts to be great, they want the band to do this or that, but then when the volunteer sign up sheet comes around - everyone is TOO busy to help out !!!
Yet - they'll work the OT in no time at work to get a newer car, a better vacation, the newest iPhone or electronic gadget, but they have no time to give to their kids activities. However, if something doesn't get done or happen just the way THEy think it should - they're the first ones to let the leaders of the organization know about it.
Even my wife has told me - "You're stretching yourself thin - I don't want you volunteering for anything else..... Let someone else do it ....." WTF ?!?!?
I thinks its really sad that in todays sub-burbia, its easier to get a mom or dad to open the checkbook and write you a $100-$150 check, then it is to get them to commit to giving 2-3 hours of time per month to their child's extraciricular activities.....
Then we (as a society) wonder WHY we have school shootings, drug problems, etc.... There are more latch-key kids than I care to imagine, the parents are disconnected and don't even KNOW what little Jonny is up to.
Heck - I've even seen this in my son's class and he's a 1st grader !!! If its this bad already - imagine the disconnect by jr high or high school !!!
People need to really learn to live with less "stuff" and balance their work and home life. Spend time as an assistant coach, a scout / brownie leader, a church youth group leader, whatever your kid does leader be involved..... Your kid can grow up without the vacation to Hawaii or Europe - they'll be better adjusted if they have a positive parental influence in their life - SPEND TIME WITH THEM !!!
The two common excuses I hear are #1 - I don't have the time, and #2 - I'm not trained well enoough to do a good job.
Well - All the volunteers I know (including myself) work full-time, and NONE of us KNEW what the heck we were doing until we jumped in and did it.
OK - jumping down off my soapbox now.
I just think ALOT of parents just don't know how to parent now - so they pawn it off on others and think if they work extra hours and throw money at their kids, it will make up for them not being there.

I'm currently dealing with a law suit we filed against our home builder. I can't stand the diva hypochondriac that sits on the other side of my cube wall and takes a medical leave every year around Christmas. And I miss my very best friend-she's been away since 1993 but I still wish everyday that she lived across the street again, not 2200 miles away.

The fact that I love my profession and salary but HATE my job, but hey at least I have it ... I still remember what it was like to be unemployeed
other one is that young people today around my age are so f*cking cynical, how is it that everything sucks?!
every last little thing has to be insulted... every band sucks, music sucks, all mainstream movies suck , everyone sucks, everyone's opinions sucks, jesus christ.... get OVER YOURSELVES... this really makes it hard to keep friends
other that than I'm good :)
