Lucky she still has an engine. No oil will make an engine lock up.

Women!!! Fill it with oil. If it still runs, consider yourself lucky. Usually lack of oil will cause rod and main bearing damage among other stuff.....and that's serious. Big $$$$ to fix that. Probably was low enough that it didn't register on the dipstick, but it still had some oil. My wife did the same thing. Her car only holds 4 quarts. I put 2 1/2 quarts in to fill it up. The car still runs.

No oil! means your engine will be gone very soon, if it hasn't already. What will happen is your internal parts like rings and pistons will all get messed up. In most cases you'll throw a rod. By that time you might either get a new engine, rebuild that engine, and/or just get a new car! All of which are very high in price.

The engine will still operate for a little while, but without the lubricating effects of oil ..the pistons will begin to heat up (due to friction) and eventually the engine will cease to run.

It would be the same as your body losing all its cartilage and you going around walking on solid bone. You would be very unhappy. Car without lubrication equals metal to metal grinding and heat causing pistons and valves to seize up. It's a very bad idea. Whatever you do you have to take care of the oil.

If it's 'totally' out of oil, the engine will seize up, start smoking and bye-bye, car!
On the other hand, if he/she caught it in time it should be ok. Maybe she/he should pay more attention to the 'low-oil' light or 'check engine' light tro avoid total damage to the Engine!

Some dumb*** lady that I worked with never changed her oil b/c her husband wouldn't do it for her. After she had the car for about 3 years her engine burnt up. She had to replace the whole engine.

What a dummy...

Top it up, take it to the oil change place, have fresh oil and filter done. Then hope the bearings haven't been scorched. If it starts knocking shut it off immediately, time to rebuild.

If it's still running then it still has oil in it,even if it dont show on stick,it'll be fine but put oil in it,or you'll sieze the engine. Then you got to replace engine,OIL IMEDEATLY!!!

You should be a nice guy and give her some lessons on vehicle maintenance (unless you don't know yourself in which case you need to find someone who could). She stands to lose her means of transport if she doesn't take care of it.
