If you like reading non-fiction, about what goes on nowadays - I recommend these two -
1) "Under the Loving Care of the Fatherly Leader"
written by Bradley K. Martin
2) "Rogue Regime"
written by Jasper Becker
These two well-written books give an insight about the North Korean Government.
Fiction?
Try all the books written by Clive Cussler (mystery/adventure/drama type). I would suggest you start the books from the first; some of the story lines tend to follow into subsequent novels.
The hero is Dirk Pitt, with his sidekick Al Giordino. These fiction books by Clive Cussler are well-written.

NEVER? I find that hard to believe!
Perhaps something by John Grisham. Suspense Thriller or anything that is about something he enjoys.
Collecting, Sports, Activities such as gardening, golf, you know, Guy things. Since he is into computers, don't try to get one like that because he may already know all the stuff. Go on Amazon and try to find a book in comedy themes, for instance. Amazon will start recommending other choices so that will make it easier, too.

Ant Farm is a book I recently got at the library. It was pretty good, but I think I may have liked it a lot more if I had first read it at a younger age. But, it has a lot of comedy and who knows what comedy he's in to.

The easiest way to learn golf like a pro is by following "The Simple Golf Swing" program. It's primarily a 31 page eBook that teaches golfers how to make solid contact with the ball, how to avoid hitting fat, how to avoid slicing, how get more power, accuracy, and consistency in your swing. Consistency being the number 1 golf skill.
You not only get the eBook though, you also receive a ton of extra material including video, lessons on putting, driving, chipping, sand play etc. Here is their official site: http://www.golfswingguru.net

Non-fiction: Chuck Klosterman (lots of stuff about gaming, music, pop culture) or Steve Almond, both gifted essayists.
Fiction: Nick Hornby and Chuck Palahniuk. I highly recommend "Choke". Also, any of Kurt Vonnegut's many, many books are wonderful.
