Now i make a right turn at this intersection every single day to get on the freeway to get home. So one day im making the right turn as usual. I slow down, Look to my left, see no cars coming from my left, and no cars ahead of me making a left turn. So naturally i thought, its safe to go (i've made this right turn the same way for months now, with no incidents.) As i made my right turn, i see a flash, but think nothing of it. A month later, i recieve the violation letter with the photographs of my car. Informing me that i had not come to a complete stop at the right turn. The ticket is a hefty 381 dollars. I didnt run a red light. All i did was a rolling stop before the right turn, which im positive i've done before without incident (but there is no way to prove it) My question is, is there a way to appeal this ticket? Also is not coming to a complete stop really $381 or is lockheed martin running a number on me? btw this is in SoCal, City of Commerce to be specific. thanks.

Either you stopped, or you didn't. A rolling stop in definition alone doesn't make sense. If there was continuous forward motion of the vehicle, you're guilty.

Is Defensive Driving School an option in your state? I just got a speeding ticket the other day and I'm gonna have to do this because I cannot afford the $200-something fine. And from what I've heard from other people that have taken the class, it's a piece of cake and your ticket is dismissed.

See down here it's kinda like a gamble. You can make an appointment for a court date and if the officer doesn't show up your ticket is automatically dismissed. But if he shows up you gotta "present" your case to the judge. A couple of years ago I got a ticket and the darn cop was the first one there! But the judge was so cool I got off on a 90-day deferment. As long as I didn't' get any other citations in those 90 days, my ticket would get dismissed....and it did!

no such thing as a rolling stop, you're still rolling, so no stopping is involved. It is running a red light. Probably the max fine and they either installed the camera recently, or decided to crack down on offenders finally.

The offending authority has to prove that it was you driving the car. Look at the photos, are you identifiable? If not, go to court, tell them that you regularly loan out your car to family members and college pals, and you can't recall who had it on the specific date and time on the ticket. They have no choice but to dismiss for lack of evidence.
