For general information about a population in the U.S., the Census Bureau web site is the place to go.
http://www.census.gov/

In this case, a web search on "income distribution texas" returned this:
http://www.cbpp.org/1-18-00sfp.htm

which pointed to:
http://www.cbpp.org/1-18-00sfp-states.htm

which has a link to the Texas data, which has the income distribution data you'll want. (There is a federal "poverty line" and the Census Bureau data has it for Texas:
http://quickfacts.census.gov/qfd/states/48000.html) but there is no "wealthy line" so you have to decide one for yourself.)
